Pain in the Necklace is an open-ended miscellaneous quest in the Dragonborn add-on. Fethis Alor, a merchant in Raven Rock, used to sell East Empire Pendants until his stock ran dry. Now they have become collector’s items, and he will pay well for any you find around Solstheim.
How to start
Ask Fethis Alor whether he sells any special mining gear. He says no, but mentions the pendants. They were made only for the East Empire Company and handed to workers as a bonus for extra effort; since they are no longer produced, they have become collectible. Ask where to find them and he suggests the mines as a starting point. If you already have one on you when you first hear about it, he buys it immediately.
Walkthrough
Search the strongboxes
The pendants are stored in East Empire Company Strongboxes scattered around the island. Fethis’s tip about the mines is a sensible place to begin, for example Raven Rock Mine right by town, but the strongboxes can be anywhere on Solstheim, so keep an eye out for them while you explore.
Sell the pendants
Bring each pendant back to Fethis. He pays 500 gold per pendant and has a handful of cheerful lines about your growing partnership. There is no need to collect them all before returning; you can sell them one at a time.

Tips and notes
- The quest has no completion stage, so it stays in your journal for good, even after you have sold every pendant (see known bugs).
- Fethis ends the conversation by telling you to leave no stone unturned, which may be a nod to the quest No Stone Unturned and its Stones of Barenziah.
