Kolskeggr Mine is a quick miscellaneous quest in the Reach with a surprisingly useful payoff. Forsworn raided Kolskeggr Mine in the night and killed nearly everyone; only the miners Pavo Attius and Gat gro-Shargakh escaped to Left Hand Mine. Take the mine back and you earn gold – and, thanks to Gat, a welcome at every Orc stronghold in Skyrim.
How to start
- Meet Pavo Attius and Gat gro-Shargakh at Left Hand Mine, where they warn passers-by about Kolskeggr Mine, and offer to deal with the problem.
- Alternatively, Skaggi Scar-Face at Left Hand Mine can give you the same task.
Walkthrough
Clear the Forsworn from Kolskeggr Mine
Enter the mine and work your way through its passages. You need to kill five Forsworn and one Forsworn Briarheart. Stealthy archers can pick them off one at a time in a few minutes. A more theatrical option: sneak past everyone and pickpocket the Briarheart’s heart, which kills him on the spot.
Tell Pavo the mine is cleared
Return to Pavo with the good news and he pays you a leveled sum of gold. Then Gat chips in with an unexpected bonus: he will send word to the Orc strongholds that you can be trusted. From now on you are welcome in all of them.
If Pavo is not where the marker suggests, check the Miner’s Barracks next to Left Hand Mine.
Rewards
- Gold by level: 500 (1-9), 750 (10-19), 1,000 (20-29), 1,250 (30-39), 1,500 (40+)
- Access to all Orc strongholds
Tips and notes
- Forsworn keep returning to Kolskeggr Mine after the quest, which puts Pavo and Gat at constant risk if they head back.
- To keep them alive, talk to Skaggi Scar-Face at Left Hand Mine. If he offers another job to clear Kolskeggr Mine, accept it and walk there on foot; Pavo and Gat should make their way to Left Hand Mine meanwhile. Once the mine is clear, the marker points to Pavo in the Miner’s Barracks, where you collect the reward.
