Boethiah’s Calling

Boethiah's Calling: sacrifice a follower at the Sacellum of Boethiah, win the bloodbath at Knifepoint Ridge and earn the Ebony Mail. Level 30 required.

Objectives

  1. Find the shrine of Boethiah
  2. Find the cult of Boethiah
  3. Lead someone to become trapped by the shrine and slay them
  4. Speak to Boethiah's Conduit
  5. Slay everyone at Knifepoint Ridge
  6. Retrieve and equip the Ebony Mail

Boethiah’s Calling is one of the darkest Daedric quests in Skyrim. The Prince of deceit and plots doesn’t want worship – she wants betrayal.

How to start

From level 30, read the book Boethiah’s Proving (it can turn up in several places, including on hostile Boethiah cultists), or just walk up to the Sacellum of Boethiah.

Walkthrough

At the shrine, Boethiah’s priestess gives you the Blade of Sacrifice and asks you to bring someone who trusts you – usually a follower – to the pillar. Once they’re trapped, kill them. Boethiah then speaks through her Conduit and sends you to Knifepoint Ridge, where her champion and every other contender must die. Take the Ebony Mail from the champion’s body and put it on to finish the quest.

Good to know

Bring a follower you’re willing to lose – they won’t be coming back. Completing the quest opens up the follow-up “Boethiah’s Bidding”.

Rewards: Armor
