The Bloodskal Blade is the only melee weapon in Skyrim with a ranged attack. Every power attack sends out a blade of red energy – and it’s a returning weapon from the old Bloodmoon expansion, where it was a one-handed sword called Bloodskal.
How to get it
During “The Final Descent” in the Dragonborn add-on, venture into the depths of Bloodskal Barrow on Solstheim. The blade lies on the remains of Gratian Caerellius. Its energy wave is also what opens the seal where it’s found.
The energy blast
- Every power attack releases a wave that deals 30 damage.
- Side or backward power attacks make a horizontal wave; forward or standing ones a vertical wave.
- The wave travels about 15 feet, can hit several targets and even passes through walls.
- It never runs out of charge.
It doesn’t work from horseback, and followers given the blade don’t fire waves.
Stats
21 damage (same as a glass greatsword), 16 weight. It can’t be disenchanted or enchanted further, and Elemental Fury doesn’t work with it.
Smithing
Silver Ingot (Arcane Blacksmith), but no Smithing perk boosts it.
