Malborn is a Bosmer – a Wood Elf – who works as a servant at the Thalmor Embassy outside Solitude. The Thalmor think he is just another harmless waiter. They are wrong: the Thalmor wiped out his family during a purge in Valenwood, and he has hated them ever since.
The inside man
In Diplomatic Immunity, Delphine sends you to meet Malborn at the Winking Skeever in Solitude. He offers to smuggle your weapons and armor into the embassy – but only once, so choose carefully. During Elenwen’s party he serves drinks, waits for your distraction and lets you slip into the kitchen where your gear is hidden.
After the embassy
Helping you costs Malborn his cover. Once the job is done, he knows the Thalmor will be hunting him, and he has to go into hiding.
Good to know
Malborn is nervous for good reason – he is risking his life for you. Give him everything you need in one go, and pick up your gear in the kitchen before you start exploring the embassy.
