Up in the hills of Falkreath Hold lives Angi, a reclusive hunter who is happy to teach a visitor how to handle a bow. This unmarked quest is a short archery course on her private range, split into four tests. Pass them all and you walk away with six Archery levels, completely free, plus her own bow as a graduation gift.
How to start
- Travel to Angi’s Camp and speak with Angi.
- She offers to train your Archery skill at no cost. Accept and she leads you down to the practice field near her house.
- The quest is unmarked and has no journal objectives, so you will not see a quest marker. Progress simply follows the conversation.
Walkthrough
Angi hands you a supply of practice arrows, and more can be found near her shack. Her rules are simple: shoot only with practice arrows, and stay inside the boundaries of the field. Before each test she shows you how it is done and shares a bit of her past.
Test 1: Composure
Hit the three nearest targets with no time limit. Angi explains that her mother taught her to shoot and always said that staying calm is what makes an archer. Each target you hit is worth one Archery level, so this round alone gives you three.
Test 2: Speed
Talk to Angi again to begin. This time you must hit the same three targets within 8 seconds after her countdown. Her story here is about hunting with her older brother, when food was scarce and every deer in a herd counted. The lesson: trust your shot and move to the next target without waiting to see the arrow land. Success earns one more Archery level. If you run out of time, the challenge counts as failed, but you can ask to try again.
Test 3: Precision
Now hit the far target at the very back of the range, behind the other three. There is no time limit. Foliage makes it hard to see, so feel free to walk over and locate it first. Casting Magelight at it marks it nicely. One more level of Archery is the reward.
Test 4: Everything at once
The final test combines the previous three: hit all four targets in 10 seconds. Angi warns you that it may take a few attempts. Slow Time helps a great deal, but if you shout at the start you will burn most of its duration on the easy targets. Saving it for the far one is usually more effective. The Eagle Eye perk also helps with the long shot. Completing it grants a final Archery level. Speak to Angi afterwards to receive Angi’s Bow.
Rewards
- 6 Archery levels in total (3 from the first test, 1 from each of the other three)
- Angi’s Bow
Tips and notes
- Save before you start. Firing a normal arrow during a test does not count, and Angi may get stuck scolding you.
- Unlike regular trainers, Angi’s levels are not capped. Master trainers stop at 90, but her course can push Archery all the way to 100 if you arrive at Archery 94. Since those last levels are the slowest to earn in combat, many players save this quest for exactly that point.
- For the timed tests, a fast bow helps. Zephyr, which draws 30% faster, is excellent here. You can also use Bound Bow and swap its bound arrows for Angi’s practice arrows.
- Lighter bows fire faster, while heavier bows shoot flatter, so you need to compensate less for arrow drop. Pick whichever suits the round.
