Linwe’s Armor

Linwe’s Armor is a four-piece light armor set looted from the leader of the Summerset Shadows, with small but handy bonuses for archers, sneaks and one-handers.

Linwe’s Armor is a unique light armor set worn by Linwe, the Altmer leader of the Summerset Shadows, a rival gang to the Thieves Guild. It looks a lot like Thieves Guild Armor, just greyer and sleeveless. The hood makes bows hit 15% harder, the armor adds 15 stamina, the gloves add 15% one-handed damage and the boots make sneaking 15% better.

How to get it

You take the set off Linwe’s body. He is the target of the Thieves Guild side quest Summerset Shadows, in which you have to kill him and recover Fjotli’s Silver Locket.

  1. Join the Thieves Guild and pick up the Summerset Shadows job.
  2. Travel to the Summerset Shadows hideout at Uttering Hills Cave.
  3. Fight through his gang, kill Linwe and loot both the locket and all four pieces of his armor.

Linwe does not kill his marks; his speciality is robbing corpses in Halls of the Dead, which is a special kind of low. You will not feel too bad about the loot.

Is it worth wearing?

Early on, it is a lovely little set for a stealthy hybrid. Four different 15% or 15-point bonuses cover archery, melee, stamina and sneaking, which is exactly what a thief-assassin uses. The full set gives 69 base armor rating for 14 weight and tempers with leather, so it is easy to keep improving.

Later, it falls behind. The Blackguard’s Armor from Dragonborn is nearly identical in looks and has much stronger thief enchantments, and the Guild’s own Nightingale Armor outclasses it for serious sneaks. Treat Linwe’s set as a fun mid-game upgrade rather than endgame gear.

Good to know

  • The rest of the Summerset Shadows wear regular Thieves Guild-style armor; only Linwe’s set is unique and named.
  • A radiant bandit-leader bounty can point to Linwe at Uttering Hills Cave, so you might find him outside the Guild quest too.
  • Its value is low, so it is not worth hauling to a merchant.
