Morag Tong Armor (Dragonborn) is the outfit of the Morag Tong, the legal assassins’ guild of Morrowind. It’s light armor in the early-to-mid range: the 26-point cuirass matches Leather and Forsworn Armor, and the full set weighs 10.5 units. Visually it’s essentially Chitin Armor with a darker, more sinister tint – the classic Dunmer assassin silhouette.
How to get it
There’s no forge recipe and no regular vendor for the set, so you have to take it from the Morag Tong themselves. On Solstheim there are two ways to meet them. In the side quest Served Cold, a group of Morag Tong hired to assassinate Councilor Morvayn of Raven Rock is hiding out in Ashfallow Citadel – clear them out and loot the bodies. And if you are a member of the Dark Brotherhood, Morag Tong agents may randomly ambush you on Solstheim, carrying a writ that names you as an unlawful assassin. Professional courtesy is clearly not their thing.
Once you have it, all four pieces can be tempered with Leather at a workbench.
Is it worth wearing?
Stat-wise it’s modest. Total armor is 53 with no enchantments, so it trails proper Chitin Armor – also Dunmer-made and available on Solstheim – which is lighter and protects slightly better. Compared with Shrouded Armor, you lose all those handy assassin enchantments.
So why wear it? Atmosphere. If your character is a Dark Elf assassin, a fan of older Elder Scrolls games, or just someone who wants to look like the most professional killer in the room, the Morag Tong set has no equal. Enchant it yourself with Fortify Sneak or Fortify One-handed and it becomes a perfectly serviceable stealth kit.
Good to know
- The hood is worth only a couple of septims despite its looks.
- All pieces temper with Leather.
- No enchantments – a blank canvas for your own.
- Ravyn Imyan, a Dunmer in Skyrim, is a former member – and famously mispronounces the guild’s name.
