Peak’s Shade Tower

Crumbling Nordic tower east of Falkreath, now overgrown and guarded by a spriggan, with a chest hidden in the greenery and a climb toward Shriekwind Bastion.

Peak’s Shade Tower is a ruined Nordic tower east of Falkreath. Whatever the old Nords once watched from here, the tower has long since given up: it’s decayed so badly that the local wildlife has moved in, chief among them a spriggan. It’s a quick stop with a hidden chest – and a handy back route up the mountain.

What you’ll find

  • A crumbling stone tower with plants growing through the ruins.
  • A leveled spriggan keeping watch over the place.
  • A chest hidden in the vegetation inside the tower.

Quests

  • Ill Met by Moonlight – the tower is listed as one of the places tied to this quest.
  • Trouble in Skyrim – a possible target location.

Tips

The chest isn’t out in the open, so poke around the overgrowth inside the tower rather than walking straight past. Spriggans blend in with the greenery, so keep an eye out before you start rummaging.

The tower is also a shortcut: you can climb a short way up the mountain from here to reach and discover Shriekwind Bastion, the vampire-infested tomb above Falkreath. Once found, you can fast travel there – much nicer than walking the long way round. Its entrances are North Shriekwind Bastion and South Shriekwind Bastion.

Good to know

Don’t expect a grand dungeon here. Peak’s Shade Tower is one of those small roadside discoveries that pays off with a chest, a fight and a map marker – exactly the sort of detour Falkreath’s foggy forests are full of.
