Cicero

Cicero is an eccentric, giggling jester and the Keeper of the Night Mother – the sacred mummified body at the heart of the Dark Brotherhood. Most players first meet him on the road north of Whiterun, near Loreius Farm, with a broken wagon and a very large coffin he insists on calling “Mother”.

Background

Cicero was once a respected member of the Brotherhood’s sanctuaries in Cyrodiil. The journals in his room tell the story of his slow descent into madness – and of how he came to Skyrim to protect the Night Mother.

How to recruit Cicero

Cicero’s fate is decided during the Dark Brotherhood questline. If you choose to spare his life rather than kill him, he can later be found in the Dawnstar Sanctuary after “Hail Sithis!” and recruited as a follower.

As a follower

Cicero is an assassin with One-Handed, Sneak, Archery and Light Armor, levelling with you up to level 50. He is essential and fights with a dagger – usually while laughing. He has no problem with your crimes, as you might expect from a member of the Dark Brotherhood.

Good to know

• Cicero cannot be married.
• His jester outfit is one of the most recognisable costumes in Skyrim.
