Skuldafn

Skuldafn is an ancient dragon temple high in the Velothi Mountains, reachable only by dragon – home of the dragon priest Nahkriin and Alduin's portal to Sovngarde.

Skuldafn is an ancient temple of the dragon cult, perched high in the Velothi Mountains on Skyrim’s eastern border. There are no roads leading here: the only way in is on the back of a dragon. Alduin uses it as his gateway to Sovngarde.

What you will find

  • Draugr and dragons guarding the outer terraces and stairways.
  • A temple full of puzzles – rotating pillars, traps and a claw door opened with the Diamond Claw.
  • A Word Wall with a word of Storm Call.
  • Nahkriin, the dragon priest who guards Alduin’s portal.
  • The portal to Sovngarde, opened with Nahkriin’s staff.

Role in the story

In The World-Eater’s Eyrie, Odahviing flies you here to follow Alduin. You fight your way to the top, defeat Nahkriin and step through the portal into Sovngarde.

Good to know

Skuldafn is a point of no return: no fast travel and no way out until you have finished the main quest in Sovngarde. Prepare before you climb onto Odahviing.

Notable loot
