Alvor is the blacksmith of Riverwood, working the forge attached to the house he shares with his wife Sigrid and their daughter Dorthe. He is also the uncle of the Imperial soldier Hadvar – which matters a lot if you escaped Helgen with him.
Before the Storm
If you followed Hadvar out of Helgen in Unbound, he sends you to Alvor in Before the Storm. Alvor offers you food, a place to rest and some supplies, then asks you to go to Whiterun and ask Jarl Balgruuf to send soldiers to protect the village from the dragon.
Smithing
Alvor is a great introduction to Skyrim’s smithing system. He can walk you through smelting, tanning, crafting and improving gear at his forge, and he sells weapons, armor and smithing materials. Before long you will be the one making things for him to sell.
Family
Alvor is very protective of his family. If anyone attacks his daughter Dorthe, both he and Sigrid will step in to defend her.
